SUMMARY:The Exchange #24 Quarrying Local Stone
DESCRIPTION:On Monday 19 October 2026\, Neighbourhood Toolbox will host The Exchange at Lovell Stone Group’s Hartham Park Bath Stone Quarry in Corsham. \nWe will start the session by hearing from James Hart\, Commercial Director at Lovell Stone Group\, about the Lovell Stone Group and the range of stone available from their quarries across the UK\, the different quarrying processes and how to specify stone responsibly for different applications. We will also explore the role that locally sourced British stone can play in more sustainable construction\, including responsible extraction\, minimising waste and making the most of the resources available. \nFollowing a break\, we’ll put on our high-vis and have the rare opportunity to go underground into the working Hartham Quarry for ourselves\, gaining an insight into the environment and quarrying process to extract this iconic local Bath Stone. \nFollowing the tour\, we’ll enjoy lunch\, provided by Neighbourhood Toolbox\, giving us the opportunity to reflect on what we’ve seen and learnt\, continue the conversation and network with other attendees. \nAgenda:\n9.45–10.00 | Arrivals\, tea & coffee\n10.00–10.10 | Introductions and NTB updates\n10.10–11.00 | Introduction to Lovell Stone Group\, the range of stone available from its UK quarries\, different quarrying processes and how to specify responsibly.\n11.00–11.15 | Tea break\n11.15–11.30 | Safety Briefing\n11.30–12.30 | Underground Tour of Hartham Park Bath Stone Quarry\n12.30–14.00 | Lunch and Discussion\n14.00 | Workshop ends \nOther Info: \nFree parking will be available for those attending. \nAs the session will be on a live quarry site\, we recommend wearing suitable clothing and footwear that you don’t mind getting messy.
