The Exchange #23 Earthern Floors
On Monday 21 September 2026, NTB will host The Exchange at Tom Graham’s workshop in Frome.
This workshop will explore the use of earthen floors, combining practical guidance on specification and detailing with a hands-on workshop exploring how an earthen floor is made.
We will hear from Jeffrey Hart of The Earthen Floor Company, who will introduce the principles and applications of earthen floors, drawing on projects and sharing practical insights into how they can be specified and detailed. This practical workshop will walk attendees through the different stages involved in making an earthen floor, providing an opportunity to understand the materials, techniques and processes involved.
Following lunch, we hope to visit 6 King Street, Frome, where The Earthen Floor Company is working on an earthen floor installation. The visit will provide an opportunity to see the floor in context and connect the morning’s discussions with a live project.
