The Exchange #20 Specifying Stone

On Monday 18 May 2026, NTB hosted workshop #20 Specifying Stone at Hadspen Quarry in Somerset.

We began the day at Hadspen Quarry – Evercreech Junction Industrial Estate – where we met their expert team, who introduced us to their stone stock and guided us through the extensive range of local stones. Attendees gained practical insight into what local stones were available, their potential applications, and how to approach specifying them in our projects.

Next, we travelled to Hadspen’s nearby decommissioned quarry to tour the site and explore the limestone quarrying process in detail. In this beautiful setting, we enjoyed a picnic lunch, providing time to network and discuss the potential of local stone in design and construction. After lunch, we took a short stroll to The Newt in Somerset to explore the impressive use of Hadspen Stone across the country estate.
